One of his main research strengths is using an interdisciplinary approach that combines knowledge from multiple fields (such as psychology) to uncover new insights. In his paper, “Home is Where the Bias Is,” I find that homeowner reluctance to realize losses (psychological bias) slows price appreciation and reduces housing sales. Additional research plans include studying the impact of regulatory uncertainty on bank lending and corporate investment and analyzing how differences in corporate culture affect productivity and competitiveness. David Goldberg Dr. Goldberg studies business analytics and specializes in text mining, machine learning, and expert systems. His research analyzes large volumes of text that consumers post online, such as social media posts and online reviews. He is interested in developing text mining methods to rapidly summarize and condense these posts. He has recently worked with Fortune 500 firms to derive automated shortlists of product suggestions, and he is involved in ongoing research with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to monitor online posts for mentions of defective or hazardous products. Luwen Huangfu Dr. Huangfu received her Ph.D. in MIS from the University of Arizona (UA), her M.S. in Computer Science from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and her B.S. in Software Engineering from Chongqing University (CQU). Anurag Ashok Mehrotra Dr. Mehrotra is a real estate economist specializing in real estate finance and urban economics. His areas of interest include mortgage markets & institutions, real estate finance & investments, credit risk and urban economics. He is currently researching facets of mortgage loans originated by government sponsored entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (e.g., servicer behavior, loss given default). In addition, he is evaluating the role that lack of affordable housing contributes to the persistence of spatial mismatch across US metropolitan areas. Not too long ago, he was a real estate banker financing investment grade real estate as a banker in the US and as a private equity investor in India. Rebecca Perols Dr. Perols joins SDSU as an assistant professor in the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. Her research interests include accounting information systems and auditing topics such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and internal controls with a focus on individual judgment and decision-making.
